Ignition coils are another known common failure on N54 engines. The best OEM replacement is going to be the Eldor Coils Part# 12138657273. If you are running under 500hp, this ignition coil will be fine.
In terms of aftermarket options, there is Bimmerlife which uses Audi Smart ignition coils and Precision Raceworks which are LS style dumb coils. You should consider upgrading to aftermarket coils if you are going to be running more than 500whp and running the NGK 1 or 2 step colder spark plugs.
